How to Store Vegetables in the Fridge

Vegetable Storage Keep your vegetables fresher for longer with a few simple tricks. Keep leafy greens in plastic containers with paper towels in the fridge. Cruciferous and stem vegetables should be stored in the fridge, usually wrapped in plastic. For roots, tubers, and bulbs, some of them belong in the fridge and others belong on a counter or in a cupboard. Pay special attention to your vegetables that are actually fruits, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocados, since many of them do better on the counter than the fridge until they are ripe. 1.
